Thanks to someone who knows his Hawaiian Plants this has been identified as "Ha`iwale" a Hawaiian native. According to the book "Growing Hawai`is Native Plants" by Kerin Lilleeng-Rosenberger there are about 53 species endemic to the islands that evolved from maybe 4-6 species that "Mother Nature" brought to the islands. The scientific genus is Cyrtandra, specie unknown.
